We are regularly holding meetings to decide if
some of the items need to be exempt from the ban. A senior official from the

which can be recycled."."In a bid to implement the plastic ban more effectively,
the state government had formed various committees including the implementation
committee and expert committee to plan the ban properly. It has been brought to
our notice that there are certain items that need plastic for packaging i.e. The
state may also include takeaway food containers, glasses, and plastic used for Wholesale Plastic Trays
Suppliers lamination of meat products in the list of exempt items. The move
has been prompted by objections against the ban, citing lack of viable
alternatives.Sanjay Sandanshiv, undersecretary, environment department,
Maharashtra government, said, "We are facing questions about alternatives to
plastic in the state. Apart from this, we are also holding meetings with several
stakeholders.Mumbai: The state government is likely to exempt from the ban,
plastic used for packaging food items that need to be preserved for a longer

The Government of India has committed to organising
Once we achieve this, we can find a better way to manage the plastic waste. With
"Beat Plastic Pollution" as the theme for this years edition, the world is
coming together to combat single-use plastic pollution.Dr."Dia Mirza, Actress
and UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador for India said "We are extremely
optimistic that we can achieve a significant shift in human behaviour where
through the advocacy that we all are involved with, we can help more people to
recognise the consumption of single use of plastic and find ways to refuse the
single use of plastics. We need to bring the changes in our own pattern of
consumption. World Environment Day is a UN Environment-led global event, the
single largest celebration of our environment each year.
The New Delhi Social
Workers Association (NDSWA) a registered prominent NGO in Delhi, has been
working closely with the Government and the citizens for their societal
development and upliftment, for the last six decades. let us began with
ourselves to fight against the issue of single-use plastic which is polluting
the environment. Udit Raj, Honble Member of Parliament (North West Delhi) with
Gaurav Grover, President of New Delhi Social Workers Association (NDSWA) along
with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), organized a meaningful
discussion to create more awareness on environment happening at Constitutional
Club of India, Rafi Marg. Udit Raj, said "We are so conservative that we need
everything from our environment without considering how much we are exploiting
the earth and damaging the environment.Gaurav Grover, President of NDSWA said
"This initiative will give an encouragement to all citizens, that they should
come forward and fight against the issue of Single-use plastic which is
polluting the environment, But this can only happen by individuals taking a step
forward, World Environment Day is just a wake-up call for us to work for our
environment.
The Government of India has committed to organising and promoting
the World Environment Day celebrations through a series of engaging activities
and events generating strong public interest and participation.".Delhi, the
sixth-most populated metropolis in the world (second largest if the entire plastic
spoon NCR is included), is one of the most heavily polluted cities in
India.New Delhi: India is the global host of 2018 World Environment Day 2018.

The PBMAI is actively participating

bins. We are assisting housing societies to consolidate and directly sell their
plastic waste to recyclers, or get it collected by the BMC," said Mr.Mumbai: The
Plastic Bag Manufacturers’ Association of India (PBMAI) has installed manned
plastic waste collection bins in zones with high footfalls, including Chowpatty
and Juhu Beach, CSTM and Mumbai Central railway station, ST bus depot, Haji Ali,
Mumbadevi, Mahalaxmi and Siddhivinayak temple. "Our immediate task is to make
these premises plastic litter-free.Saumil Shah, chief coordinator, PBMAI, said,
"Each passerby is being educated to dispose of used plastic bags, containers,
multi-layered laminate packs of FMCG products, pet bottles etc.It has initiated
a 90-day cleanliness camp at high footfall venues in various districts of the
state, including Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivali, Pune, Nashik, Jalgaon, Aurangabad,
Latur and Nagpur. Shah."
The PBMAI is actively participating by deputing its
volunteers to suburban housing societies.. PBMAI volunteers have also made
themselves accountable for all littered plastic at these locations and
collecting it for recycling
